Cashier/Server
This is a hybrid customer service position where you get to be the friendly face of the the Chilmark General Store market, kitchen, and garden. You get to greet customers and provide great information about our market offerings, menu, and all things Chilmark. Responsibilities include offering superior customer service, facilitating efficient service flow, performing accurate and timely POS procedures, and maintaining store presentation and cleanliness. This is an hourly position with high earning potential that includes hourly wage plus tips. Part-time or full-time available.

stock associate
As a Stock Associate you will properly receive and unload orders to designated storage areas. The Stock Specialist team maintains the eclectic and historic, yet super clean and organized feel of our store. Daily activities include stocking grocery and cooler shelves, rotating product inventory and maintaining store cleanliness and retail presentation, and preparing curbside delivery orders. Stock Associates also interact with customers providing valuable information about our store and product availability. Senior Stock positions and entry level positions available. Part time or Full time available.

assistant retail manager
As a Assistant Retail Manager you will provide an exceptional store experience and manage daily operations of the store. You will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing staff, ensuring proper receiving, storage, and rotation of merchandise, and maintaining merchandising displays and a clean store environment. This is a hands-on position that requires leading by example. If you enjoy taking pride in your work, creating visually compelling displays, and taking responsibility for the store environment, this job is for you.

Pizza Cook
The best candidate is an experienced pizza cook with expertise in hand stretched thin crust pizza, enjoys working in a high volume kitchen, and is passionate about making great pizza. Candidate should work well with others, be able to take direction as well as lead and train others, and be able to provide input on menu, recipes and production. Knowledge of proper dough making, cutting, rolling, and fermentation control as well as preparation and control of pizza ingredients is a plus. You must be able to lift 50lb bags of flour, work on your feet for 8 hours, and excel in a fast paced, demanding environment.
Pizza Assistant
As an Assistant Pizza Cook, you will be trained to cook, slice, and box pizzas, manage the timed flow of pizza orders, and fulfill slice orders. You will also learn and execute proper dough making, cutting, rolling, and fermentation control as well as preparation and control of pizza ingredients. Pizza experience or kitchen experience is helpful but not necessary for the right person with a great attitude and a love of pizza. Sandwich and Salad Makers
We may be known for our pizza, but really we make just as many delicious sandwiches and salads our customers love. This is a varied position that includes preparing ingredients, building premade sandwiches and salads, and working the line fulfilling breakfast and lunch sandwiches orders. It may also include assisting in other areas of food production, packaging, order receiving, inventory maintenance and cleaning. We hire at different skill levels for this role, from the 20 year kitchen veteran to students with little or no experience. You should be organized, methodical, and precise, enjoy working in teams, and have a great attitude about creating a fantastic product for our guests.

Baker
As a full or part-time time seasonal baker will produce breads, muffins, scones, quick breads, cookies, brownies, bars and other baked goods from scratch. Candidates should be responsible individuals able to work independently, manage time well, execute recipes, work off a production list and meet deadlines, and be 100% punctual for early morning shifts. Everyday basics
We pride ourselves on being a community market where you can shop for everyday basics, fresh local produce, specialty foods, and household necessities. Whether you’re making a pit stop or stocking your pantry for a week we have grocery basics covered: from Coca Cola to Kombucha, we strive to find a balance between convenience and inspiration. Here are a few highlights:
French baguettes are baked daily and bread is delivered daily from Pain D’Avignon bakery in Hyannis. We have a large variety of specialty & organic foods, a few of our favorite brands include: Annie’s, Muir Glenn, Earthsbest, Kashi, Cascadian Farm, Dancing Dear, Newman’s, Soco Creamery…the list goes on and on. Our specialty cheese and charcuterie offering is extensive offering Vermont, European and West Coast favorites: such as Vermont Creamery, Jasper Hill Farm, Blue Ledge Farm, Italian La Tur to name a few. We offer natural cleaning products such as Seventh Generation & Mrs. Meyers along with candles, paper products and kitchen tools. You’ll also find beach toys, sunglasses, T-Shirts & tote bags, books, magazines and general store items such as fire wood, charcoal, bug spray, light bulbs, surf wax, etc.
LOCAL & ISLAND GROWN
We work with many island farms and producers to acquire produce, meat, cheese, coffee, chocolate, honey and more grown or made on the island. Here are a few of our regular local purveyors: Morning Glory Farm, North Tabor Farm, Grey Barn & Farm, Mermaid Farm, Chilmark Coffee Company, State Road, Martha's Vineyard Raw Honey Co.
OUR GARDEN
We transformed a Chilmark family garden into a small farm to to supply our kitchen with produce grown 1.5 miles away. Along with produce from local island farms our garden supplies our kitchen with fresh, locally grown produce that is harvested by hand everyday and brought to the store as quickly as we can get it from the fields.
